Reliable Credit Announces DEI Donations
February 24, 2023
Reliable Credit’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (“DEI”) team, known as Reliable Impact, continued to work through 2022 to help foster a culture where diversity, equity and inclusion are practiced and celebrated. Reliable Credit and Reliable Impact believe that access to higher education for historically marginalized racial and ethnic populations is a key pathway to social mobility and economic opportunity. To that end, Reliable Impact chose education as a focus for its 2022 donations. We are pleased to announce that we recently made monetary donations to the following organizations:
All Hands Raised
All Hands Raised – With a focus on racial equity, All Hands Raised connects the Portland-area community’s diverse assets with the explicit goal of working in new ways together to improve students’ success inside and outside of school. Working with seven school districts, culturally specific organizations, and partners from early learning through college and career training, they pursue the goal of improving the educational outcomes and long-term career prospects for the more 220,000 young people living in Multnomah County.
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (“HACU”) was established in 1986 and represents more than 500 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Spain and U.S. school districts. Although its member institutions in the U.S. represent only 17% of all higher education institutions nationwide, together they are home to two-thirds of all Hispanic college students. HACU is the only national educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Black United Fund of Oregon
Black United Fund of Oregon – The mission of the Black United Fund of Oregon (“BUF”) is to assist in the social and economic development of Oregon’s underserved communities and to contribute to a broader understanding of ethnic and culturally diverse groups. BUF is the only Black-led and Black-serving foundation in Oregon. BUF is the oldest BIPOC-led foundation in Oregon and one of the last culturally specific organizations remaining on historically Black NE Alberta Street. For almost 40 years, its programs have increased postsecondary success for youth, provided philanthropic support to underserved communities, and supported BIPOC business owners and entrepreneurs.
Reliable Credit and Reliable Impact believe that access to higher education for historically marginalized racial and ethnic populations is a key pathway to social mobility and economic opportunity.
UNCF
UNCF – UNCF’s mission is to increase the total annual number of African American college graduates by focusing on activities that ensure more students are college-ready, enroll in college and persist to graduation. This is done through a three-pillar strategy: (1) Positioning member institutions as a viable college option for students and investing in institutional capacity to improve student outcomes, (2) creating transformational support programs to ensure students are enrolling and persisting through college completion, and (3) building awareness of educational attainment and cultivating college-going behaviors within the African American community.
American Indian College Fund
American Indian College Fund – Founded in 1989, the American Indian College Fund is the nation’s largest Native-led and serving charity supporting Native student access to higher education. The American Indian College Fund believes “Education is the answer” and provides American Indian and Alaska Native students with scholarships and program support, ensuring they have the tools to graduate and succeed in their chosen careers. The College Fund also supports 35 accredited tribal colleges and universities, which most of which are chartered by tribal governments and are located on or near Indian reservations.
We hope that our contributions help these organizations continue to work for fair and equitable access to higher education.
